I am not going to lie, I wanted to use the excuse of COVID being the reason I haven’t posted an article in a while, but it isn’t COVID’s fault (there is plenty of fault there already). To be honest, I’ve just been lazy. There, I said it, now we can move past the fact it’s been almost a year since I posted something (I also didn’t realize it has been that long until I started writing this OOPS!).

Portrait photos are what I generally shoot on a regular basis, but I also shoot product and landscape photos as well. Typically when I shoot landscapes, architectural, street photography, etc. I do so for fun, or because I stumbled across something interesting. It’s those different photos that I capture that I will enter into photo contests, and as such, I entered this photo into the Powerful Composition exhibition challenge on GuruShots.

It is that time of the year again, time to go back to Las Vegas! I never expected to return to Vegas a year after my first time visiting, but I did exactly that. The first trip to Vegas I took was to check out my photo on display at the WPPI 2019 Expo, after meeting so many nice people and having such a great time, we decided to head back and experience a lot more things Vegas and WPPI had to offer.

The challenge was called “Nightfall” and as the title says, you were suppose to submit your best nightfall themed photo. Fast forward 37.6 million votes later, and my photo was chosen!

I was notified today that one of my latest photos was featured in an article on digitalcameraworld.com. I am happy this photo was selected because I really like the raw nature of this photo. I hope to be able to post more of these in 2020!

A few months ago in the Behind the Lens facebook group, Rodrigo and Joseph posted some shots of Joseph’s new car. They did a technique called “Light Painting”. This is something that my friend Brad and I had talked about doing for quite some time, but haven’t had a chance to try it out. Rodrigo sent me some information they used to do the light painting technique and Brad and I setup a time for us to give it a shot.

I received an email today congratulating me on having my photos selected and published in the Creative Light Magazine for the “Magazine Worthy Shot” challenge I entered. GuruShots ran a challenge called “Memorable Portraits” with a chance to be printed and exhibited at the Qlick Gallery in Amsterdam. One of my photos was selected to be printed and featured at the gallery in November!
