About this Photo:
When I visited the WPPI Expo in Las Vegas, there were several vendors who had models setup for you take test out their cameras and equipment. One of the more interesting setups was the Olympus booth, and I stopped by at the right time to catch Raquel Romans (the model) with some free time. She was able to pose for me and give me direct eye-contact so I could capture this shot.
The thing I really like about this shot is that it reminds me of Lara Croft and Tomb Raider. The scene is fantastic and I liked the lights so much that I bought some similar to put in my studio. This photo made me rethink how I setup my own shoots and to be more creative when putting something together.
About this Award:
The contest I entered this photo into was the “People” category contest on photocrowd.com. This is a website that has many photo contests in all kinds of categories. Since I had just taken this photo, I thought it would be fun to see how it worked out.
This contest was limited to 100 photo entries and had 97 photographers from all over the world. After 10,148 ratings, I ended up the Top Crowd Winner with the #1 photo. Since this was my first contest on this website, I didn’t know what to expect; however, I wasn’t expecting to take the #1 spot and win an Award for it. I am elated that so many people thought so highly of my photo to vote for it. You can check out the contest below and see the other photos in the contest as well.
